Grandma jailed for stealing handbag and shades

A GRANDMOTHER was jailed for four days and fined RM800 by a magistrate's court in Kuala Lumpur after admitting to stealing a handbag and a pair of sunshades.

Berita Harian reported that 63-year-old Pat Har Noi was charged with stealing a Sembonia bag and sunshades costing RM384.90 at 3pm in Jaya Jusco, Taman Maluri last Thursday.

In her plea for a lighter sentence, Pat said she was always forgetful and had forgotten to pay for the products when she left.

However, her charges stated that she was acting suspiciously and was followed by a security guard who saw her placing the items into her own bag before leaving.

She failed to show any receipt when apprehended and admitted that she did not pay for the items.

Her jail sentence began on the day she was arrested on June 23.
